JEST FEST

𝗝𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗜 - Saturday 24 August, 6.02am, The National Monument, Calton Hill

A pair of absurdist comedy performances staged ridiculously early in the morning from subversive local cross-disciplinary artist James Alexander McKenzie acting as ‘Jimmy Mack the Shapeshifting Jester’ and his motley crew of anti-hero alter egos.

By attending these performances, viewers accept that they are entering an imaginary sub-volcanic clown lair called ‘The Auld Reekie Echo Chamber’.

In these pop-up performances, viewers can expect a series of spoken word monologues characterised by wry humour, parody, absurdity, self-absorption, meta-theatrical devices (self referentiality; drawing attention to its construction and artificiality), references to Edinburgh, and reflections on art.

The JEST FEST performances are presented by Sett Studios and are part of the Edinburgh Art Festival programme. They are free to attend (just turn up).

JEST FEST is generously supported by Creative Scotland.
